New York City Lawyers Works With Uniformed Firefighters Association’s on 9/11 Cases
The after-effects of the attacks on the World Trade Center are still being felt almost seven years later both by the families of the deceased and by the heroic emergency workers who provided service to the catastrophe.
In a major March 18, 2008 ruling by the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, the claims of firefighters sickened by dust, debris and contamination at the 9/11 WTC disaster site to proceed against the City and its contractors will now be allowed. This comes as a relief for the disaster workers who have suffered respiratory illnesses but were denied sufficient rescue personnel who could administer appropriate protection.
WiredPRNews.com reports - “The Second Circuit’s ruling, written by a panel of three judges, is a great victory for all WTC rescue workers with lawsuits pending before the Hon. Alvin K. Hellerstein in the Southern District of New York.
The decision was reached after the Court considered the written brief and oral argument of the Uniformed Firefighters Association’s (UFA) general counsel, Sullivan Papain Block
McGrath & Cannavo P.C.” The deadline to submit claims of this nature is rapidly approaching. If you are suffering from an illness or injury you think may be connected to your service at the WTC Site, you are strongly encouraged to contact Michael Block, Esq. or Andrew Carboy, Esq. at (212) 732-9000 if you have any questions or are interested in bringing a claim.
